Equilibrium Project
The purpose of the equilibrium project was to pick a topic that interested us and describe how the concept of equilibrium was important to it. Pooling together a minimum of 4 different sources of varying types and compiling them into a document, we were assigned the task of creating a social media campaign. The ideas included PowerPoint presentations, Instagram pages, and info graphics.
I decided to research the production of lactic acid within muscles during exercise. I found studies from the scientific views of biologists and chemists as well as real-life experiences from runner and athletes to strengthen my understanding of lactic acid. After creating my supporting document, I decided to convey my knowledge through the medium of an info graphic about the processes behind lactic acid production in the body.

Concepts:
- Chemical Equilibrium - Chemical equilibrium is reached when the concentrations of both the reactants and products stay at a constant value. This is achieved when forward and reverse reactions happen simultaneously at the same rate yielding no net change. (Dynamic Equilibrium)
- Le Chatelier's Principle - "If a system at equilibrium is disturbed by a change in temperature, pressure, or the concentration of one of the components, the system will shift its equilibrium position so as to counteract the effect of the disturbance." In simpler terms, this principle is used to predict how the changing of a given variable will be counteracted to maintain equilibrium.
Reflection:
This project was an odd experience for me as I was sick during the first 7 out of 8 schooldays of the project. This meant that my research was extremely condensed and I had to work efficiently and not waste any time to catch up to my classmates.
While this constraint was difficult, it forced me to prioritize my work flow to accomplish tasks as quickly and logically as possible. I also found that my lack of time took me in the direction of an info graphic instead of the popular route of an Instagram page. This made me not only try my hand at a new presentation format, but also made me think critically to make my info graphic as succinct and fluid as possible while retaining visual appeal.
For future projects, I will try to work at home on small tasks or even just think about the project if I am sick to avoid major homework cramming.I will also try to communicate better with my classmates to understand assignments better to save myself from sifting through copious amounts of unnecessary information.
Overall, I found this project to be helpful for my efficiency, but did not have enough time to fully immerse myself in the concepts due to my absences during the unit.
